Skulls & Crossbones...

Not a very big DIY project but never the less, I picked up this adorable hat at Disneyland earlier last month and just simply had to have it. But being a mother and nearing the big 3-0 I just don't think I can pull off the punkish skull and crossbones look. (I did buy it in the Pirates of the Caribbean store) So I bought the adorable hat and promptly told my girlfriend I was with that I would pull the crossbones off and replace them with buttons. Hah!!! Easier said than done! When I bought the hat I failed to look at how those attachments were...well...attached. Very well indeed. Silly ol' me thought that they would be sewn on in some way. Oh no!!! They were attached like rivets in jeans. Oh yes!!! Which meant how I had to pull out the tool chest in order to make some headway. In the end I had to attach much larger buttons than I had intended because those crossbones were a pain to remove and left large gaping holes in the material. Oh well, I think it turned out pretty good anyway.

Pier 1 imports

The other day a girlfriend of mine went to peruse the goods at Pier 1 imports. Low and behold we came across the MOST AMAZING Christmas tree of all time. It was made of entirely of all things peacock! And not just the usual greens and blues, but they had yellows, purples, and reds. I fell in love instantaneously. It's made me re-think of everything I have planned for this holiday season! Now the possibilities are endless! I can't wait to see what I cook up! Also, taking a page out of next months Better Home's and Garden, they have some pretty great at home crafts to do too. Like these adorable felt ornaments! Doesn't it make you crazy with excitement?!

If I can manage to get done everything on my list, I'll share what I'm working on too!

Barbie Bondage

Just had to post this...


This is the work of an innocent 3 year old. When I asked her if I could take the tape off, a full blown temper tantrum nearly accosted my safe little bubble in which I live. We calmed each other down carefully and we compromised that the tape could stay on Barbie, but that it should probably come off the chair.

Yes, Barbie is still tied up at the bottom of the toy box...Sorry Barb but you had it coming!

Oh yeah THAT tutorial

My most humbling apologies for the serious lack of tutorial here. Let me just post the oh so trivial excuses and then we can all move on...

Excuse #1: Ry's grandmother passed away last week. So that means lots of family, friends, traveling, etc.
Excuse #2: Our neighbor hit our car last week. A sweet neighbor so that lessens the angst a little bit.
Excuse #3: My huge girls only weekend that I'm still trying to recover from (see pic).


Excuse #4: JoAnn's has been having huge AND I MEAN HUGE sales all week long.
Excuse #5: I have a terrible head cold *sniff*

It's been a roller coaster week and I'm seriously contemplating crawling back into bed and sleeping it all off. zzzZZZzzz.....

Please don't lose track of me!! I'm here, just swimming under the surface. The sun will come out tomorrow...right?!!

Sunday = Funday

Here I am all alone. Alone.....alone.... Never have I heard such nothingness since the early days of my marriage. The children, husband, and dog are gone and I rest here at home. Alone. From this distance I can feel my mind and body relaxing, the reset buttons have been pressed and I'm patiently waiting for re-booting. ALONE! Big deep breath, sighs of utter contentment, knowing that my life and reasons for living will return home to me shortly. But in the mean time, I will relish my absolute individual sense of proprioception and do something I haven't done in a VERY long time. RELAX. This is definitely fun!
